About Rooted Beyond Labels
People are more than the labels placed upon them.
Rooted Beyond Labels is a community-interest initiative working to improve understanding, create opportunities and strengthen connections within Black and Brown communities.
Our work has a particular focus on ADHD awareness and education, especially for parents, caregivers, couples and young people.
But our vision goes further.
We want to create a positive platform where young people and young adults can develop confidence, practical life skills and a stronger understanding of themselves, their relationships and the world around them.
Why Rooted Beyond Labels?
ADHD is often misunderstood.
For individuals and families within Black and Brown communities, conversations around ADHD, neurodiversity, learning, relationships and emotional wellbeing can sometimes be complicated by misconceptions, limited awareness or difficulty finding accessible and relevant information.
We want to help change that.
At the same time, we recognise that young people face challenges that extend far beyond a diagnosis.
Confidence, communication, decision-making, relationships, leadership and critical thinking are skills that can shape how young people navigate education, work, relationships and life.
Rooted Beyond Labels brings these areas together.
Our Mission
To improve understanding of ADHD and neurodiversity, strengthen relationships and create educational and developmental opportunities that help young people, families and communities grow.
Our Vision
Communities where people are understood, supported and empowered to thrive beyond the labels placed upon them.
What We Do
At Rooted Beyond Labels, we create safe, inclusive spaces where women, young people and families can thrive. Through wellbeing, sport, creativity and community connection, we help people build confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging.
ADHD Awareness & Education
We develop accessible educational content and community activities that encourage greater understanding of ADHD and neurodiversity.
Our work explores ADHD beyond common stereotypes and considers its potential impact on everyday life, learning, communication, emotions and relationships.
Family & Relationship Support
We provide resources and educational opportunities for parents, caregivers, couples and families seeking to better understand ADHD and develop healthier ways of communicating and supporting one another.
Women’s Wellbeing
We support women’s mental, emotional and physical health through workshops, fitness and wellbeing activities, peer support and opportunities for personal growth.
Youth Sport & Development
We provide accessible sports programmes, football activities and competitions alongside mentoring and leadership opportunities, creating space for teenagers and young adults to develop the practical skills needed to navigate life with greater confidence and purpose.
Mentoring
Our mentoring work aims to provide young people with appropriate guidance, encouragement and positive support as they explore their interests, challenges and goals. We also seek to help them make positive choices that support their future.
Community Arts & Entertainment
We bring communities together through cultural events, family entertainment, creative arts, music and recreational activities that celebrate diversity and belonging.
